To celebrate the inauguration ceremony and the introduction of girls’ education at the Choki Traditional Art School (CTAS) we are offering a selection of itineraries in Bhutan that coincide with the opening ceremony on 17th May 2010.

The following is a special departure that will be personally escorted by Steve Webster who has been involved with CTAS and the Himalayan Youth Foundation for the past 8 years.

This tour includes the very best of Bhutan and takes you on special hikes to off the beaten track monasteries and hidden valleys.  The tour also includes deluxe accommodation in Thimpu (The Taj Tashi) and Paro (The Zhiwaling).

ITINERARY
Thur, 06th May, 2010: Arrive in Paro. Met and drive to Thimpu. Overnight Thimpu (Taj)
Fri, 07th May, 2010: Sightseeing of Thimpu (Taj).
Sat, 08th May, 2010: Thimphu / Dochu La / Punakha.
Sun, 09th May, 2010: Hike to Khamsum Yuley Namgay Chorten and the hike on to Punakha Dzong.
Mon, 10th May, 2010: Hike to Chimi Lhakhang(Temple of the divine madman). Drive to Trongsa. Overnight Trongsa.
Tues, 11th May, 2010: Sightseeing in Trongsa valley and drive to Bumthang. Overnight Bumthang.
Wed, 12th May, 2010: Full day sightseeing in Bumthang valley (Central Bhutan). Overnight Bumthang.
Thur, 13th May, 2010: Drive from Bumthang to Phobjikha valley. Overnight Phobjikha.
Fri, 14th May, 2010: Hike around the valley. Drive from Phobjikha to before Wangde Phodrang (In trek Resort).
Sat, 15th May, 2010: Drive to Thimpu. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Thimphu (Taj)
Sun, 16th May, 2010: Hike to Tango Monastery. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Thimphu (Taj)
Mon, 17th May, 2010: C.T.A.S Foundation day celebration. Overnight in Thimphu (Taj)
Tue 18th May, 2010: Drive from to Paro. Afternoon sightseeing of Paro. Overnight Zhiwaling.
Wed, 19th May, 2010: Hike to Takshang. Overnight Zhiwaling.
Thur, 20th May, 2010: Transfer to the airport for your international flight.

Note that the above itinerary includes an element of hiking on generally good trails.  Participants will be expected to be reasonably fit but it should be noted that by Himalayan standards the hikes are relatively easy.
